Antiwar.com’s ‘Alternative’ Reality

In response to Justin Raimondo’s latest plea for more funds, a lively discussion is now taking place in the comments section. The highlight so far is this response to Sibel Edmonds:
I am the Director of Operations at Antiwar.com. I make decisions everyday before anything is foisted upon the editors (who have very exacting standards) at Antiwar.com. Your pieces were rejected because they are simply not good. Often the articles on your site are substandard and in one case, sub-literate. Your reputation is also that of a highly difficult contentious prima donna who loathes women and Jews. Over the past years, I have had concluded (sic – RB) that is an accurate assessment. This is a bit rich coming from someone who told Russia Today that the mainstream media was downplaying the Syrian government’s atrocities because “Assad’s a US puppet.” Now that’s certainly “alternative” news! Meanwhile on Facebook:
Angela Keaton: Sibel and her friends are upset that I’m Jewish. If anyone is offended by that, I apologize. She just hates Jews. Several work at Antiwar.com. She’s a Jew hating douche. One of the joys of working at Antiwar.com is knowing that 98% of your critics are racist garbage cans.
Jon Gold: Sibel doesn’t hate Jews. I am a Jew. We’re friends. And that’s all I’m going to say.
Jason Ditz has joined the smear campaign against Sibel:
That someone overheard something interesting 10 years ago does not mean they have anything worth saying now. I think the slow realization of that fact has been the center of this weird little crusade against us.
Poor Ditz. I guess he can’t accept the fact that “this weird little crusade” is in good part about him not having “anything worth saying now.”
wow, i was hesitant to give too much credence to theories of infiltration of the antiwar staff, but angela’s shrike-like full frontal attack (god she’s acerbic) followed by jason’s snide shot have disabused me. it’s a pity, as antiwar played an important part in my ‘awakening’
I have always been aware of the septic nature of their ideology. You could call it pathological anti-leftism. They pose as gurus of right-wing rectitude, b that doesn’t prevent them from availing themselves of the supposed fruits of leftist cultural politics, e.g. condemning people for being racist, sexist or homophobic, even when they aren’t. They ought to condemn their own religious allies. But logic doesn’t apply to them. Only the glorification of capitalism (which they refuse to call ‘capitalism’, since they claim the word has been purloined by plutocrats). As news aggregators they are sloppy, and as news analysts they are unoriginal. They refused for months to look at Syria as a regime change operation, though I among others bombarded them with derisive comments about their failure to do so.

Other people can’t open your https:// account anyway. You can’t open it yourself unless you have the appropriate cookie, or log into it afresh.
Over the past twenty four hours the comments thread seems to have vanished into the memory hole.
Does anyone have a copy?
That doesn’t surprise me. Thomas L Knapp had to retrieve a whole lot of comments the other day while simultaneously some other member of the AntiWar.com team was trying to delete them.
