isn’t it slightly surprising that haaretz & jpost covered this?

Former Bush administration official: Israel may be behind use of chemical arms in Syria
Chemi Shalev, Haaretz, May 4 2013

Retired US Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff, believes that the chemical weapons used in Syria may have been an Israeli “false flag” operation aimed at implicating Bashar Assad’s regime. Wilkerson made his astounding assertion in a May 2 interview on Current TV’s Young Turks program. Current TV, once owned by Al Gore, was recently purchased by al-Jazeera. Wilkerson said that the evidence that it was Assad’s regime that had used the chemical weapons was “flaky” and that it could very well have been the rebels or Israel who were the perpetrators. Asked why Israel would do such a thing, Wilkerson said:

I think we’ve got a basically geostrategically, geopolitical inept regime in Tel Aviv right now. I think we saw really startling evidence of that in the fact that Obama had to tell Netanyahu ‘Pick up the phone, you idiot, call Ankara and get yourself out of this strategic isolation you’re in right now. Israel’s situation is as dangerous as it’s been since 1948. Obama has got to be very circumspect about what he does in exacerbating that situation. Netanyahu is clueless as to this. I hope Obama gave him a lecture in geostrategic realities.

A “false flag” operation is a covert attack on foreign or domestic soil carried out by governments or organizations under a false identity, aimed at placing blame on the enemy. It originates with a ruse once used in naval warfare in which ships would hoist the enemy’s flags in order to infiltrate his ranks. Wilkerson, 63, a former Army helicopter pilot who flew combat missions in Vietnam, served as Colin Powell’s chief of staff in 2002-2005. He was responsible for reviewing the intelligence information used by Powell in his by now infamous Feb 2003 UNSC appearance on Saddam Hussein’s WMDs. After his retirement, Wilkerson described this presentation as “a hoax” and became an outspoken critic of the Bush Administration’s handling of the Iraq war. He now serves as a professor at Virginia’s William and Mary College and is a guest commentator on several US television networks.

‘Israel may be behind Syrian chemical weapons use’
JPost, May 4 2013

A former senior official in the Bush administration said on Thursday the use of chemical weapons in Syria might have been a “false flag operation” of Israel, meant to implicate Assad. Given this “flimsy evidence,” Wilkerson doesn’t believe a red line has been crossed in Syria, and that the US should not base its intervention in the war-torn country based on such evidence. Col (retd) Lawrence Wilkerson, Colin Powell’s former chief of staff, told Cenk Uygur in an interview with Current TV:

We don’t know what the chain of custody is. This could’ve been an Israeli false flag operation, it could’ve been an opposition in Syria, or it could’ve been an actual use by Assad. But we certainly don’t know with the evidence we’ve been given. And what I’m hearing from the intelligence community is that that evidence is really flakey. There is a geostrategically, geopolitically inept regime in Tel Aviv right now. We saw really startling evidence of that in the fact that Obama had to tell Netanyahu, ‘pick up the phone, you idiot, and call Ankara and get yourself out of this strategic isolation you’re in right now, do a reconciliation with Turkey, the most powerful country in the region,’ otherwise Bibi probably wouldn’t have done it.

i saw that and it made me do double take, which brought me back again to the thought of opposing sides on Syria inside US homeland

Depleted uranium is not an explosive. It is a heavy metal used in artillery shells to penetrate armor plating. It would be of no use in a bomb. You are almost as prone to nonsense as demize, who thinks they used a “low yield nuclear weapon”.

Report: Israel Using Depleted Uranium in Missile Attacks on Damascus

i’m just trying to figure out what’s going on here, first off this attack happened Sunday am Damascus time, not Friday as leaked by western media

It’s often said that DU is used in missiles, eg:
but I can find no actual instances of this; all the actual instances are artillery shells.

why would they use DU on Gaza then, am sure they do not have tanks, right?

I’m not at all sure the Izzys used DU on Gaza. An interesting item headed Israel admits it used DU on Gaza contains (right at the end) a leaked letter from the Izzies to the UN, which doesn’t actually admit any such thing. It’s possible they used it out of sheer malignancy, to create a permanently poisoned zone like a mini Falluja, but its normal use is as a penetrating tip on artillery ordnance. What I’m saying is that I can’t find any actual instance of its being used as a penetrating tip on a missile, ie it could be so used but for whatever reason evidently isn’t, so if the Izzys used DU-tipped missiles yesterday on Syria, they must have built them all by themselves in total secrecy.

The izzys conducted an air raid on a storage area in damascus airport, southwest of the city, on friday, and then another attack, on the factory north of damascus which they had already attacked before in january, early this morning. Both cases supposedly aimed at destroying missiles en route from iran to hezbollah.

thank you, yes that’s the excuse i heard fear of Iranian weapons
i can see Israel using the DU just to be cruel and poisoning area, even the good goyims must die and all

don’t know if mentioned FARS news also had post on one of the Israeli jets being shot down in all this … am not even sure of how many or what type of strikes at this point. Russia denounced attack supposedly in the guardian before Syria claims it happened, and i see nothing in Russia news of this “denouncing of attack” yet. really odd

Claiming they entered airspace when they didn’t (they fire their missiles from over Lebanon), claiming a shootdown, claiming DU use, even claiming mini-nuke use (which demise posted a comment saying, but I was so disgusted I deleted it) – these are all standard disinfo responses.

not disagreeing with you but this information is coming from Iranian FARS News not SANA, as far as i see SANA is trying it’s best to be credible since no one else is

oh and Pan African News Wire and RT also calling use of DU in attacks, am not so sure that is disinfo
