80 Iraqis Killed, 236 Wounded As Bombers Converge on Baghdad Again

Car bombers struck en masse in and around the capital again today. Overall, at least 80 people were killed and 236 more were wounded across the country. In Husseiniya, Baghdad, two car bombs killed 9 and wounded 32. In Ilam, a bomb killed 7 and wounded 15. A bombing at an ice cream shop in Karrada killed 6 and wounded 15. A bomb in Saidiya also killed 6 and wounded 15. A bomb in Maamel killed 3 and wounded 41. A blast at a Baghdad al-Jadida souk killed 6 and wounded 17. A Zaafaraniya blast killed 4 and wounded 14. A bomb in Shurta killed 5 and wounded 12. A bomb in Doura killed 1 and wounded 7; gunmen shot dead 2. In Abu Dsheer, there was 1 killed and 4 wounded. A bomb in Bayaa left 7 wounded. Also, 4 dumped bodies bearing gunshot wounds were discovered around the city. Two explosions in Tarmiya killed 12 and wounded 39. A Sadr City blast killed 3 and wounded 8. In Arab Jabour, gunmen killed 5 family members including 3 children during a home invasion. A car bomb in Jbela killed 5 and wounded 5. A blast in Haswa wounded a civilian and a child. Snipers in Basra killed a Sunni cleric. A sticky bomb in Muqdadiya wounded 3, two of them off-duty cops.
