Biden says Erdoğan admitted ISIL mistake
Tolga Tanış, Hurriyet, Oct 3 2014

WASHINGTON – Usaian Vice Pres Biden has said that Turkish Pres Erdoğan admitted mistakes that paved the way for the rise of ISIL. Biden said during a speech on foreign policy at Harvard Kennedy School on Oct 2:

President Erdoğan told me, he is an old friend, said you were right, we let too many people through, now we are trying to seal the border.

While speaking to the students for nearly an hour and a half, Biden defended Usaian foreign policy, stressing that the White House was not late to move against the rise of ISIS. He said:

Our allies poured hundreds of millions of dollars and tens of thousands of tons of weapons into anyone who would fight against al-Assad, accepted the people who would be in supply for al-Nusra and al-Qaeda and extremist elements of Jihadis coming from other parts of the world. Our biggest problem is our allies. Our allies in the region were our largest problem in Syria. The Turks, we’re great friends and I have a great relationship with Erdoğan that I spent a lot of time with. The Saudis, the Emiratis, etcetera, what were they doing? So now what is happening, all of sudden everybody is awakened. Now we have and the president has been able to put together a coalition of our Sunni neighbors, because Usaia can’t once again go in to a Muslim nation and be the aggressive. It has to be led by Sunnis to go and attack a Sunni organization. They voted in the Turkish parliament to allow Turkish ground forces in the take on ISIL, Turkish airspace be able to be used by NATO and by other allies, Turkish airspace be able to accommodate our drones. It took a while for Turkey, a Sunni nation, to figure out that ISIL was a direct and immediate threat to their well-being.

With similar remarks, Jackass Kerry recently placed the blame for the rise of the ISIL on those who resorted to any means to oust al-Assad, creating what he called a “sloppy process.” Kendra Barkoff, the spokeswoman for the Vice President, also sent a written statement by e-mail on Biden’s remarks. Barkoff said:

Turkey is a critical Ally for Usaia, and the Vice President has a personally close relationship with President Erdogan, whom he respects and admires. The two leaders spoke today about our countries’ common effort to combat ISIL and agreed to coordinate our actions going forward. In the Vice President’s remarks yesterday at Harvard University, he was trying to convey that none of us knew enough about the various elements of the opposition within Syria. However, now that we are confronted with the common threat of ISIL, we are determined to act with our allies and partners in the region to degrade and destroy this malicious force.

Let’s see what Jackass had to contribute to this festival of mendacity:

‘Sloppy process’ of ousting Assad led to ISIL’s rise, Jackass says

NEW YORK – Jackass Kerry has placed the blame for the rise of ISIL on those who resorted to any means to oust Assad, creating what he called a “sloppy process.” Jackass told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour during an interview aired on Sep 24:

In the very beginning … when the efforts to oust al-Assad took place, there were people who made calculations that the important thing is to remove al-Assad. Yes, there are some bad apples there, but we want to get him out. And that, unfortunately, resulted in funding different groups, and it was, frankly, a sloppy process.

Noting that attempts to oust al-Assad and “get rid of the bad apples” after was a bad idea at the time, Jackass spoke more positively about the situation’s current conditions. He stressed that now the anti-ISIL coalition members, including Arab states, “are all on board.” He said:

So since then, there’s been a real focus on this financing, and state-sponsored support of these groups, I believe, is over. It has ended. There are still individuals within certain countries who have been funneling money to these groups. They realized it morphed into something more ominous, more threatening, and so I think people have really pulled back. There’s a sense of purpose now in this focus against ISIL. This is not about al-Assad now. This is about ISIL. But we are continuing to train openly, equip and arm the moderate opposition. And over the years, we’ve gotten pretty good at vetting and understand. We’ve done 20 years of this now. We did it in Iraq. We’ve done it in Afghanistan. And our folks know how to separate people and begin to determine to the greatest extent possible who is really moderate and prepared to fight.

Moderate and prepared to fight.” This is an old tune. It was played during the Cold War, and WW2, and WW1, for as long as the Yanks have been playing their games, and maybe even before that, when the Brits were recruiting assorted lunatics for their many colonial wars – RB
