Trump Invades Syria

Although the Syrian army has made significant gains against Daesh over the past week or so, the WaPo is reporting tonight that Pres Trump has for the first time sent regular Pindo grunts into that country in combat positions. This is an unprecedented escalation of Pindo involvement in the Syrian war and it comes without Congressional authorization, without UN authorization, and without the authorization of the government of Syria. According to the WaPo, Pindo Marines have departed their ships in the Mediterranean and have established an outpost on Syrian soil. The Marines on the ground include part of a 155 mm M777 Howitzer battery. The ground force will provide fire support in preparation for the assault on Raqqa. Additional grunts are likely to be added to it. On Mar 5, RT ran the footage above showing a convoy of Stryker APCs entering Syria near Manbij. The Pindo MSM initially blacked out the story, but the WaPo today confirmed that they were from the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. What is important to understand about this sudden escalation of involvement is that if this “race to Raqqa” is won by the Pindos rather than by the Syrian government, the chance that they will hand the territory back to that government is virtually nil. In other words, this is an operation far less about wiping Daesh out from eastern Syria, and far more about Pindostan carving out eastern Syria as a permanent outpost from where it can continue the original neocon/ Israeli/ Toad plan for “regime change” in Syria. Pindostan is making a military bid for a very large chunk of sovereign Syrian territory, something even Obama would not have dared to do. How will the Russians react if increased military activity on the ground in Syria begins to threaten their forces operating in Syria with the consent of that country’s legal government? With Trump’s “get along with Russia” policy lying in tatters, Nikki Haley at the UN and Fiona Hill on the NSC Staff, the Russians may see Pindo actions in Syria very differently than they would have done a month or so ago. Make no mistake, this is big news and very bad news.
