Assange Responds To D/CIA That “Produced AQ, ISIS, Iraq, Iran & Pinochet”
Tyler Durden, Zero Hedge, Apr 14 2017
After being blasted by new CIA Director Mike Pompeo yesterday as a “hostile non-state intelligence service,” Julian Assange has decided to respond by trolling the CIA. Assange’s Twitter trolling was prompted by Pompeo’s attack on WikiLeaks yesterday which appeared to be in response to an op-ed Assange wrote in the WaPo on Tuesday which referenced Pres Eisenhower’s 1961 farewell speech, in which he warned of the dangers of the influence of the military industrial complex. Assange said the speech is similar to WikiLeaks’ own mission statement. He wrote:
On his last night in office, President Dwight D Eisenhower delivered a powerful farewell speech to the nation, words so important that he’d spent a year and a half preparing them. Ike famously warned the nation to “guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” Much of Eisenhower’s speech could form part of the mission statement of WikiLeaks today. We publish truths regarding overreaches and abuses conducted in secret by the powerful. Our most recent disclosures describe the CIA’s multi-billion-dollar cyber-warfare program, in which the agency created dangerous cyber-weapons, targeted private companies’ consumer products and then lost control of its cyber-arsenal. Our source(s) said they hoped to initiate a principled public debate about the “security, creation, use, proliferation and democratic control of cyber-weapons.” The truths we publish are inconvenient for those who seek to avoid one of the magnificent hallmarks of Pindosi life: public debate. Governments assert that WikiLeaks’ reporting harms security. Some claim that publishing facts about military and national security malfeasance is a greater problem than the malfeasance itself. Yet, as Eisenhower emphasized, “Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”
For those who missed it, below is our note on Pompeo’s comments from yesterday.

And so Donald Trump flips on yet another issue. One day after the President reversed his core stance on a broad range of policies including the dollar, interest rates, the futures of Janet Yellen and the Ex-Im bank, the obsolescence of NATO and whether China is a currency manipulator, on Thursday afternoon he took aim at Wikileaks and Julian Assance, when D/CIA Pompeo, in his first public appearance since taking the post, told an audience at a Faschingstein think-tank:
It’s time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is: a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia. WikiLeaks walks like a hostile intelligence service and talks like a hostile intelligence service.
Pompeo added that Russia’s GRU military intelligence had used Wikileaks to distribute hacked material during the presidential election. Pompeo also said that disclosures by Assange and Snowden have done “great harm to our nation’s national security and they will continue to do so in the long term.” And to think that just 6 months ago, Trump said he loved Wikileaks…
On Thursday, Pompeo cited the intelligence community’s January report concluding that the Russia’s GRU military intelligence went through WikiLeaks to released hacked emails from the DNC to influence the presidential election. The report concluded that Russia’s state-controlled media outlet RT.com actively collaborated with WikiLeaks in the influence campaign against the election. Pompeo called Assange “a fraud, a coward hiding behind a screen,” skewering him for exposing information about democratic governments rather than authoritarian regimes. “He was no whistleblower,” Pompeo said. Which is ironic for Pompeo to say when just last July, Pompeo was quite keen on using the information disclosed by this “fraud and coward” for his own political purposes, when he was sharing Wikileaks documents on his Congressional Twitter account less than a year ago:
Pompeo also accused Snowden of committing “treason” by leaking top-secret NSA files, adding that his disclosures have made it more difficult for Pindo intelligence agencies to track terrorists and given them tools to hide in “digital forests.” Trump’s latest reversal means that any hope Julian Assange may have had of being pardoned despite, at least according to Hillary Clinton and now the CIA, winning the election for Trump, is now officially gone, and should Assange ever be evicted from the Ecuadorian embassy in London, his fate will be anything but pleasant.
CIA Director Smears Wikileaks After Tweeting Them During 2016 Election
William Craddick, Zero Hedge, Apr 13 2017
D/CIA Pompeo blasted Wikileaks during an event held by CSIS today, despite having promoted the publisher’s leaks in 2016 to attack political opponents during the election. Pompeo took an extremely hard line with the publishing giant, labelling them a “non-state hostile intelligence service” before repeating the baseless contention that Wikileaks was abetted by the Russian Federation, despite FBI Director Comey’s assertion in late March that Wikileaks has never dealt directly with the Russian government. Pompeo further stated that Russia Today (RT.com) had actively collaborated with Wikileaks, and that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was a narcissist and a fraud “hiding behind a computer screen.” Pompeo’s comments are ironic given that during the 2016 election, he was happy to publicize Wikileaks’ release of the DNC emails, which proved that the DNC had been committing election fraud during the Demagog primary and improperly communicating with members of the Pindo media. Pompeo tweeted about the release and accused then-Pres Obama of being complicit in the primary fraud and collusion with the press.
The apparent policy flip by Pompeo comes after Wikileaks began to release their Vault 7 series of leaks, showing that the CIA has been improperly accessing the personal electronic devices of Pindostanis, was concealing known exploits from product manufacturers, utilizes false attribution techniques allowing them to conceal their hacking attacks by portraying them as coming from another country and uses tools which appear to have been developed by Russian criminal organizations.
CIA chief goes rogue
Russia Today, Apr 13 2017
Speaking at an event organized by CSIS in Faschingstein on Thursday, the former Kansas congressman went on the warpath against Wikileaks, accusing its editor Julian Assange of being on the “wrong side of history” and seeking to harm Pindostan, freedom and democracy. Pompeo told the audience:
It’s time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is, a non-state hostile intelligence service, often abetted by state actors like Russia.
Repeating the unsubstantiated allegation by Hillary Clinton’s campaign from Oct 2016, when RT reported on the daily disclosures of Podesta emails, Pompeo said:
The Russian propaganda outlet RT actively collaborated with WikiLeaks.
Assange “knows nothing about Pindostan and our ideals,” Pompeo declared, adding that had he lived in the 1930s he would have been on the “wrong side of history,” as he “and his ilk make common cause with dictators today. Their currency is clickbait, their moral compass non-existent … (Assange is a) narcissist … a fraud, a coward hiding behind a screen.” The CIA director rejected Assange’s reasoning that WikiLeaks had the right to publish documents that WikiLeaks obtained, arguing that the right to free speech does not apply to non-Pindosis. He said:
Julian Assange has no First Amendment freedoms. He’s sitting in an embassy in London. He’s not a Pindosi citizen. These are not reporters doing good work, to try and keep the Pindosi government honest, but people actively recruiting agents to steal Pindosi secrets with the sole intent of destroying the Pindosi way of life. No one has the right to actively engage in the theft of secrets from Pindostan with the intent to do harm to it.
This is a marked departure from Trump’s position on WikiLeaks during the campaign, and even Pompeo’s own tweets while he was a Representative from Kansas, as some observant journalists pointed out. Pompeo confirmed that it was his agency that concluded that the Syrian government was responsible for the chemical weapons attack in Khan Shaykhun, which persuaded Trump to fire 59 cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase last week. He said (quite falsely – RB):
We were good and fast, and we got it right!
He dismissed the statements from the Russian government questioning the Pindo narrative about the attack, saying:
They’re on their sixth or seventh story, none of which have an ounce of truth to them.
Pompeo said of Putin:
This is the man for whom veracity does not translate into English. We have to preserve Pindosi democracy from this threat of misinformation and propaganda that poses a real risk to our democratic values.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump tweeted that things will “work out fine” between Pindostan and Russia, tweeting:
At the right time everyone will come to their senses & there will be lasting peace!
Trump hand-picked Pompeo to take over the CIA within a week of winning the election in Nov 2016, and the Senate confirmed him with a 66-32 vote just four days after the inauguration.
