ISLAMABAD – “Are you with us or with Qatar?” Toad King Salman raised this question during a meeting with Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif. The Toad King asked Sharif to take a clear position on Qatar during their meeting in Jeddah on Monday, the Express Tribune reported, citing diplomatic sources. The paper said:

Pakistan has told the Toads it will not take sides in the brewing diplomatic crisis in the Middle East after Riyadh asked Islamabad: “Are you with us or with Qatar?”

Citing a senior Pakistani boxtop who was briefed on the talks at the Toad King’s palace in Jeddah, the paper said:

Pakistan will not take sides in any event that will create divisions within the Muslim world. Nevertheless, in order to placate the Toads, Pakistan offered to use its influence over Qatar to defuse the situation. For this purpose, PM Nawaz Sharif will undertake visits to Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey.

Sharif, accompanied by army chief Gen Bajwa and other senior boxtops, travelled to Jeddah on Monday. According to an official statement, he met King Salman in Jeddah and urged an early resolution of the impasse in Gulf in the best interest of all Muslims. The Saudi Press Agency said that King Salman responded:

The fight against extremism and terrorism is in the interest of all Muslims and the Ummah.

Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad, who has been leading the diplomatic initiative, vowed to continue his efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis despite remaining unsuccessful in his earlier bid.

Egypt: Gulf siege against Qatar should include Turkey
Middle East Monitor, Jun 14 2017

The Egyptian president has called on allies in the Gulf to escalate the diplomatic row with Qatar to include Turkey. Apparently, Sisi urged Gulf leaders to expand their boycott until Ankara gives up support for Qatar. He is reported to have said that this would maintain the pressure on Doha to respond positively and help bring a speedy end to the regional siege. The sources said that Sisi raised the matter during a meeting with the King of Bahrain last Thursday in Cairo. They said he pushed for the escalation of the Arab campaign and accused Turkey of funding and hosting groups classified as terrorist such as the MB or organisations in Syria. They said Sisi had not received a response to his suggestion. The sources said the GCC were keen at the least to prevent Turkey from assisting Qatar. After his visits to Riyadh & Cairo, the King of Bahrain sent his Foreign Minister to Turkey to meet Erdogan in an attempt to argue against his agreement to send troops to Doha. The Turkish Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Qatar today. He said that his government aims to protect the security of the region as a whole, not just a particular country and that he hoped the dispute with Qatar would be resolved before the end of Ramadan.
