‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Respond To Trump’s “Bleeding Face” Tweet
Tyler Durden, Zero Hedge, Jun 30 2017

Having replied to Pres Trump’s outburst with a snarky tweet yesterday, Morning Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski made a more considered response this morning, suggesting:

We believe it would be better for Pindostan and the rest of the world if he would keep his 60-inch-plus flat-screen TV tuned to Fox & Friends.

As The Hill reports, The hosts of MSNBC Morning Joe accused Pres Trump of lying, and called on him to end his “unhealthy obsession with our show” in a Friday morning op-ed responding to the president’s Twitter attack the day before. Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough wrote for the WaPo:

For those lucky enough to miss Thursday’s West Wing temper tantrum, the president continued a year-long habit of lashing out at Morning Joe while claiming to never watch it, (and) fit a flurry of falsehoods in his two-part tweetstorm.

Brzezinski and Scarborough call it “false” that they asked to join Trump three nights in a row, “laughable” that he refused to see them, and “a lie” that she was bleeding from a facelift. The co-hosts write:

Putting aside Mr Trump’s never-ending obsession with women’s blood, Mika and her face were perfectly intact, as pictures from that night reveal. Mika has never had a face-lift. If she had, it would be evident to anyone watching Morning Joe on their high-definition TV. She did have a little skin under her chin tweaked, but this was hardly a state secret.

Scarborough and Brzezinski said in their Friday op-ed that if it so upsets him, Trump is clearly “not mentally equipped to continue watching our show.” We suspect this feud is far from over, and with a long holiday weekend ahead, we’re sure Pres Trump will have some downtime to tweet a response.

There is a whole extra accusation in The Hill as well:

‘Morning Joe’ hosts to Trump: Stop watching
Tristan Lejeune, The Hill, Jun 30 2017 1,005

In a startling accusation, the co-hosts, who are engaged to be married, said members of the administration threatened bad publicity against them if they refused to apologize to the president for their coverage. They wrote:

This year, top White House staff members warned that the National Enquirer was planning to publish a negative article about us unless we begged the president to have the story spiked. We ignored their desperate pleas.

Brzezinski and Scarborough addressed the “blackmail” attempt during Friday’s Morning Joe. Scarborough said:

The president is friends with the guy that runs the National Enquirer.

Trump would personally call to have the story killed, Scarborough said, adding he had “three people at the very top of the administration” repeatedly pressing him to apologize to Trump. Following those comments, Trump said on Twitter that he “said no” when asked if he could halt the story:

Scarborough responded minutes later:

Trump was the recipient of the National Enquirer’s first-ever political endorsement during his campaign last year. In an interview published in The New Yorker this week, Enquirer owner David Pecker defended his tabloid’s largely positive coverage of the president, saying:

The guy’s a personal friend of mine.

MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch Calls Trump a ‘Disgusting, Vulgar Pig’ In Response to Morning Joe Tweets
The_Real_Fly, Zero Hedge, Jun 30 2017

Donny took the low road, because that’s what gentlemen of his caliber do. Whilst attempting to teach Pindostan’s youth about decorum and how to handle adverse conditions, Mr Deutsch decided to scorch earth his teevee career and partake in a vulgar rant against the President. Moron in the background cheering him on. Fun Times.

Donny challenges Trump to a schoolyard fight too!

Mark Levin’s take on this kerkuffle, saying MSNBC has a problem.

‘Let’s Get Back to Russia’: Media’s Interest in Narrowing the Trump Story
Eoin Higgins, FAIR, Jun 3 2017

Maddow-Russia-ConnectionRussia was the main topic of 53% of Maddow segments (4/12/17)

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released a heavily edited video on Tuesday that quoted CNN health producer John Bonifield expressing skepticism about his network’s priorities. Despite O’Keefe’s well-deserved reputation for sleaze, liesand deceptive editing, the video does show a continuous shot of Bonifield complaining about his network’s insistence on continually pushing the did-Trump-collude-with-Putin? scandal to the headlines:

Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords, and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN (Jeff Zucker) said in our internal meeting, he said, good job everybody covering the climate accords, but we’re done with that, let’s get back to Russia.

Yes, “let’s get back to Russia.” An unsurprising prioritization from the network that neglected to ask a single question related to climate change during the presidential debates in 2016 (10/19/16), and couldn’t be bothered to broach the topic with the president in interviews this year (6/3/17). By placing the Russia story at the head of reporting about the Trump administration, CNN, MSNBC, and other major news outlets have fostered the impression that they view other stories affecting real people’s lives, including climate, healthcare cuts and the travel ban, as being of lesser importance. A recent Harvard Harris poll found a majority of Pindosis want the government to concentrate on issues like healthcare and the economy, rather than the endless Russia investigations spawned from the media frenzy. According to The Hill (6/23/17):

64% of voters said the investigations into President Trump and Russia are hurting the country. 56% of voters said it’s time for Congress and the media to move on to other issues, compared to 44% who said the focus should stay on Russia.

Yet the media spotlight remains concentrated on the scandal at the expense of almost every other story. For many of the large papers and networks, the overarching storyline they are constructing assumes there is an understanding that “the Russians” were responsible for Trump’s victory last November. This storyline survives, even though thus far the closest we’ve gotten to proof was former DNI (and known perjurer) Clapper’s January report alleging such collusion, a report that spent nearly half its length attacking a five-year-old version of the Russian media company Russia Today. Perhaps it’s easier for the Demagog establishment to focus its energy on a new Cold War than it is to deal with the reality that Demagog fundraisers are now pushing the Trump agenda forward, as The Intercept‘s Lee Fang (6/23/17) reported recently. And it helps to defuse the ticking time bomb of accountability for last year’s electoral loss; according to the campaign tell-all Shattered, Hillary Clinton was instructing aides “to make sure narratives were spun the right way” within 24 hours of her concession speech. The Russia story also shifts activist energy and attention away from the issues that could challenge the interests of the elites who run the networks. Healthcare, tax cuts and net neutrality, for example, are bread-and-butter subjects for the corporate interests that run cable news. It’s easier for journalists to point to a traditional adversary of Pindostan and decry interference in the democratic process than it is to examine issues where the president and their bosses may be on the same side.
