No children or ducks harmed by novichok, say health officials

No children or animals were harmed in the novichok attack in Wiltshire last year, health officials have said, following claims that Donald Trump decided to take action against Russia after being shown images of dead ducks and children in hospital. Trump is said to have been reluctant at first to expel Russian diplomats following the attack in Salisbury last year, viewing the poisoning of the former Moscow agent Sergei Skripal as “part of legitimate spy games.” Trump changed his mind after then-DDCI Gina Haspel showed him pictures of young children who apparently had been hospitalised as a result of the Salisbury attack, according to the NYT. She also showed him photographs of ducks that had been killed purportedly because of carelessness in handling the nerve agent on the part of the two Russian intelligence operatives alleged to have carried out the attack. Mr Trump fixated on the pictures of the sickened children and the dead ducks, the report said. At the end of the briefing, Trump embraced what Haspel had presented as the “strong option” and expelled 60 diplomats. But the report does not chime with what the British have said about the impact of the novichok attack. Three adults were poisoned the attack in Salisbury in March last year: the Skripals and DS Nick Bailey. Two others were poisoned in Amesbury in June: Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley. No children are known to have been harmed in either incident. The fate of ducks on the river close to where the Skripals collapsed has been a source of speculation. It is believed some tests were carried out on dead ducks, but they were not found to have been poisoned by novichok. Asked by the Guardian to comment on the NYT report, Tracy Daszkiewicz, the director of public health at Wiltshire Council, said:

There were no other casualties other than those previously stated. No wildlife were impacted by the incident, and no children were exposed to or became ill as a result of either incident.

Salisbury district hospital said no children were admitted as a result of being exposed to novichok, though some children were taken to hospital by parents worried they may have been poisoned.

A comment by ‘Duncan’ on Craig Murray Blog today:

There were a few UK papers leading with articles documenting the duck feed with the three boys and the Skripals. The Mirror seems to be the paper breaking the story on Mar 24. The Sun followed up with an article and pictures, which were the result of an interview with Aiden Cooper’s mother on Mar 27 and a resulting publication on Mar 28. Turning to Trump and the expulsions, this happened on Mar 26. Ms Haspel needed to only show the POTUS the media headlines, rather than actual pictures. It seems incredible on many fronts.

  1. The duck feed is now erased from the official narrative, mainly because it makes the door-handle dosing impossible.
  2. POTUS and his government expelled the Russians based on children not being exposed to nerve agent, and subsequently not being ill.
  3. Haspel, based on her own crank-it-up anti-Russian agenda, would have known by Mar 25 that no children were ill & no ducks were killed in the making of this movie.

Notice the key line in the Mirror article of Mar 24:

The incident involving the boys, who are believed to have been given the all-clear, was confirmed by Public Health England and described by British boxtops to Pindo boxtops.

The incident (the duck feed, emphasizing danger to the public & thus Russian recklessness) was described by British boxtops to Pindo boxtops. It seems that the “all clear” part of the message may have been omitted.
