they just keep on and on forcing us to kill them! it’s horrible!

NYT Presents Murder of a Palestinian Boy as ‘National Trauma’ for Jewish Israelis
Jim Naureckas, FAIR, Aug 30 2019

A recreation of a crime scene in HBO‘s Our Boys.

HBO has a series based on a real-life crime in Israel—a 2014 case involving (in the NYT‘s words) “a Palestinian teenager snatched off a Jerusalem street by Orthodox Jews, choked, bludgeoned and burned to death in a forest at dawn.” And here is the NYT’s report (8/27/19) on this series:

For Israel? Yes, and by “Israel,” NYT’s Jerusalem correspondent Isabel Kershner means Jewish Israelis. In her eyes, they are the ones for whom the murder of 16-year-old Palestinian Muhammad Abu Khdeir was a “national trauma.”

It was the extraordinary coldbloodedness of the murder that made it true-crime movie material in the first place. But Our Boys, a 10-part series that started this month on HBO, is under attack in Israel largely because of that singularity. Some critics have accused the creators of skewing reality and ignoring what they say is the more common scourge of Palestinian terrorism against Israelis, creating a false equivalency between the two and tarnishing Israel’s image.

Let’s stop here for a reality check. There are, in fact, statistics on who’s killing whom in Israel/Palestine. B’Tselem reports that since Jan 2009, there have been 95 Israeli civilians killed by Palestinians, and at least 1,771 “Palestinians who did not take part in hostilities killed by IOF.” This latter number does not include Israeli assassinations, labeled as “targeted killings,” or Palestinians killed by Israeli civilians. There have been 13 Israeli minors killed by Palestinians since 2009, and 785 Palestinian minors killed by IOF. In other words, a child killed in the conflict is 60 times more likely to be a Palestinian child than a Jewish child. Kershner might have pointed out that the accusation that Palestinians murdering Jewish Israelis is a “more common scourge” is an absolute inversion of reality. Instead, to cite an example of “some critics” who think it’s “skewing reality” to focus on a single Palestinian death, she turns to Yair Netanyahu, who said on Twitter:

The series tells the whole world how the Israelis and Jews are cruel and bloodthirsty murderers, and how the Palestinians are badly done by and oppressed.

The tweeter’s father, as prime minister since Mar 2009, is responsible for nearly every one of those 785 Palestinian children killed by his security services. After quoting the younger Netanyahu, Kershner acknowledges that Palestinians watching the series “also had painful memories.” As an example, she offers the parents of the murdered boy, who no doubt felt at least as bad watching a TV show about their dead child as the prime minister’s son did. Did somebody say “false equivalency”? Please tell the NYT not to treat the murder of a Palestinian child as chiefly a “national trauma” for Jewish Israelis.

well at least people felt bad about an individual lighting up another human being who had done nothing. Compare the Hamas etc reaction to the IED which exploded about two weeks ago on a family out hiking and a young girl was murdered. So how does Hamas etc react-a hero did this and they distribute candies.

it’s not bullshit because i have seen videos, quite a few. but i am not defending the Zwi Migdal affair in any manner. there are evil people in every group and they are to be despised. but interestingly Atzmon always finds and publishes the dross and dregs about Jews or Zionists.

question for you: you once where publishing Tishby’s book, what happened to it?

an interesting fact for you may be that a bookstore owner in Jer has published the main theoretical book of R. Nathan of Gaza. a job very well done. he is an academic with a PHD and did excellent work e.g. consulted many mss. and a long intro both in Eng and Hebrew.
his name is Leor Holzer tel. 0765433800. he speaks fluent Eng and if you want a copy i am sure he would be obliging.
you can also find him on Facebook.

The answer regarding the Tishby book is that there does exist a very good english translation of it but the translator claims he is planning to publish it with a friend (a very lofty orthodox esoteric publisher) – but it’ll never happen. The thing has been vetoed. The translator, David Solomon, is an educator in Australia. Talk to him.

The reason it was vetoed is because Tishby expounds the very obscene theory that the angels make something called hashmal out of the shmooks of jewish boys and use it to plug the hole between this universe and the sitra ahra. So, no shmooks, no plug. Also, Tishby concludes with some reluctance that the goyim will cease to exist after the tikkun. Goyim means nations, of course, not individuals.

Interesting about the Nathan book, but you must surely be aware that my hebrew is nursery-school level only, great alas because I really do love the language. Something prevents me from using the tools I possess to learn it (including an audio course from the State Dept Foreign Service School). I can’t teach myself the language because something forbids it. Laziness? Well, I tried to do a course with a hebrew teacher, but she saw continuing beyond beginner level as contingent on my conversion, which I really cannot stomach. I’m not Jewish (unless I can prove my Grandma was really Jewish & passing as not). I must have been subject to karet (divine excision from the jewish people) in a previous life, and now I’m trying to get back in.

I doubt it was vetoed by the publisher. Either it is not worth his time or nobody will fund him.

Can you give me the page # in the Hebrew edition as I will be at HU this week and would like to check it out.

This is not official doctrine. If this is what he writes it is probably his own interpretation. His real name was Schwarz. I believe he may have been part of the Gur hasidim and was in the camps. Wiki may have info on him.
He was an academic and although I greatly appreciate the thoroughness the academics invest in their publishing of Mss. they also add a lot of their own ‘dregs’ while on the other hand when the Orthodox publish things they censor what is against their beliefs and generally do a shoddy job at publishing.
So I try to take the best from both.

The Tishby book was his Ph D submission to Gershom Scholem. There is a whole chapter on the hashmal. I think they were the only people actually usingt HUJI in 1941. It’s spooky. The hebrew printing is awful. It’s almost unreadable, as hebrew, it’s so fuzzy. 1941, in Jerusalem… Look at the whole of section three (each section has three short chapters): “The Kingdom of the Husks.” (Memleket haqlipot).

At that time, no one in the old city would even talk to them. They were seen as left-wingers, secularists, spies and wreckers, the whole bit.

I don’t know where you got the Chabad thing as I have nothing to do with them and actually despise them. You may be referring to some of the statements in the Tanya that basically state there is no ‘salvation’ for the non-Jew etc but this is not true.
Judaism is the only religion among the 3 monotheistic religions that does not actively proselytise and states that any ‘righteous’ [for want of another/better word] person has a share in the next world. Christianity states “Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus” and Islam considers us all infidels, even among themselves on the internicene field.
In any event I hope to have access to Tishby’s book soon and I will look for what you mentioned.
