Pindostan to help ‘legitimate Latin American governments’ to PREVENT protests from ‘morphing into riots’ – Pompeo
RT.com, Dec 2 2019

Pindo Sec State Pompeo has said that Pindostan will help “legitimate governments” in Latin America in order to prevent protests from “morphing into riots.” Pompeo made the comments while delivering remarks at the University of Louisville on Monday. He declared that Pindo policy in Latin America is based on “moral and strategic clarity,” meaning that Faschingstein “cannot tolerate” regimes it deems unsatisfactory in the region. Pompeo said that protests in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador reflect the “character of legitimate democratic governments and democratic expression” and that governments in the region should respect that. He said:

We will work with legitimate governments to prevent protests from morphing into riots and violence that don’t reflect the democratic will of the people. We will continue to support countries trying to prevent Cuba and Venezuela from hijacking those protests.

He also accused Russia of “malign” influence in Latin America and of “propping up” the democratically elected Venezuelan government of Nicolas Maduro. The eyebrow-raising comments come in the wake of the November coup in Bolivia against Pres Evo Morales, when violent protests and attacks on politicians forced him to leave the country. Opposition leader Jeanine Anez has since declared herself an “interim president.” The opposition-led protests began over alleged election irregularities. Pompeo’s distinctively frank comments are an admission of sorts that Pindostan will encourage violent protests and regime change where it deems a government to be illegitimate, but will work to quash anti-government sentiment in countries it sees as obedient allies. While Pindostan wholeheartedly supported the Bolivian coup, as well as coup attempts in Venezuela earlier this year, it has all but ignored anti-government protests in Chile, which it blames on “malign” Russian and Chinese influence. In both Venezuela and Bolivia, Faschingstein supports the unelected self-declared “interim presidents.” Pompeo concluded by saying there remains an “awful lot of work to do” in the region, referring to Latin America as Pindostan’s “back yard.” He also warned against “predatory Chinese activities” in the region, which he claimed can lead countries to make deals that “seem attractive” but are “bad” for citizens.

Pindostan Vows to Prevent Venezuela & Cuba From “Hijacking” Protests in Latin America
Tim Korso, Sputnik News, Dec 2 2019

Five Latin American countries, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Venezuela have been facing protests over the course of this year due to various socio-economic reasons, with some of them turning into riots and even coups. Pindo Sec State Pompeo stated that Faschingstein will be helping governments in Latin America that it considers “legitimate” to prevent protests from turning into violent riots, while speaking at the University of Louisville on Dec 2. Pompeo argued that such riots do not “reflect the democratic will of the people” of those countries. He also vowed that Pindostan will take steps to prevent Cuba and Venezuela from “hijacking those protests.” He accused these countries of “inviting bad actors” into the region and trying to turn Pindo-allied democracies into “dictatorships.” Pompeo justified Faschingstein taking part in the anti-riot efforts by saying that Pindostan represents the “greatest example in democracy in the history of the world.” At least five Latin American states including Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Venezuela have suffered to varying degrees from protests in 2019, with some of them turning bloody. The protests in Ecuador continued until mid-October, and were originally sparked by the government’s decision to abolish the country’s fuel subsidy, in line with austerity measures agreed upon by the country and the IMF. The Chilean rallies were triggered by the government’s decision to increase the fare for the Santiago subway, as the country has been suffering from lasting economic woes. The mass protests in Bolivia erupted after the government announced the results of the Oct 20 2019 election and the victory of incumbent President Evo Morales. The opposition and demonstrators accused Morale of fraud, and he was forced to give up his post and flee the country after the country’s military decided to side with the protesters. Venezuela has also suffered from mass protests that turned violent at certain points, but at the same time its government, long opposed to Pindostan, didn’t find support in Faschingstein, but rather the reverse. Pindostan supported self-proclaimed interim Pres Juan Guaido, who sought to oust legitimately elected Pres Nicolas Maduro. According to media reports and accusations made by Caracas itself, Faschingstein even funded Guaido’s unsuccessful coup attempt in Apr 2019.
