EU and Japan to forge united front against China and Russia at summit
South China Morning Post, May 9 2022

The European Union and Japan are working together to cut their dependence on China and check Beijing’s influence in the Indo-Pacific, amid anger over China’s “no limits” partnership with Russia. At a summit in Tokyo on Thursday, leaders will establish a blueprint for wide-ranging cooperation, from trade, to technology and supply chains. The blueprint is expected to bolster supply chains and set joint standards for vital technology such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, 5G and 6G – many of the areas to be covered when the EU-US Trade and Technology Council convenes in Paris a few days later. In discussions with EU officials, traditional references to open markets have been replaced with allusions to the war and of the deepening divide with Beijing. They credit Japan for showing “full solidarity” with Western sanctions on Russia, saying Beijing’s “regrettable” backing for Moscow has helped push Brussels and Tokyo closer. “What happens in Europe today could happen in the Indo-Pacific tomorrow,” one senior source said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “With the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, and the close relationship between Moscow and Beijing, there is an even greater commitment by the EU to increase its role in the Indo-Pacific and Japan is, of course, a key partner for that.” Tokyo has been couching things in similarly stark geopolitical terms. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who will chair the talks along with leaders of EU institutions, has been on a whistle-stop diplomatic tour to drum up support for tackling Russian aggression. He returned to Japan on Friday after stops in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, as well as the Vatican City, Italy and Britain. In London after striking a defence pact with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Kishida said: “Ukraine may be tomorrow’s East Asia. Russia’s aggression is not an issue only for Europe. The international order encompassing the Indo-Pacific is at stake.” Analysts said the summit would help dispel some widely held myths that the war was a matter for Europe alone.

Ruling party head: Georgia’s involvement in war would mean “destruction” of country
Agenda.ge, May 10 2022

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday said Georgia getting involved in a war against Russia amid the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine would mean a “destruction” of the country. Kobakhidze pointed to the largest opposition party in the country as one that “clearly wanted” to see a conflict breaking out in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “The National Movement clearly wants this. They neither can, nor want to, hide this. Similar statements were made directly by Ukrainian authorities,” the GD official said in reference to Alexei Danilov, the Ukrainian Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council saying the Georgian Government attempting to retake its Russian-occupied regions by force would help Ukraine in its defence against the Russian invasion. On Mar 11, Kobakhidze said Georgia was the” only country in the world” where the opposition was “using the war” unleashed by Russia in Ukraine for a “campaign to damage” its own country.

Allies stand together to bolster NATO’s eastern flank
NATO, May 10 2022

Allied Air Command commands and employs military aircraft from the nations and NATO to execute enhanced Vigilance Activities. NATO has substantially increased the number of fighter jets on alert across Eastern Europe. “NATO air forces have bolstered their presence in the eastern part of the Alliance….Several dozen fighter jets are on alert at any time to response to possible airspace violations and to deter aggression,” said Headquarters Allied Air Command Chief of Staff, Major General Jörg Lebert. “Allied Air Command integrates the Allied air forces’ fighters, air-to-air refuelling and transport aircraft as well as Allied and NATO airborne warning and control (AWACS) platforms into the standing arrangements. These assets enable NATO to patrol the Allied airspace and have 24/7 situational awareness above NATO and adjacent territory,” he added. A Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) was stood up at Allied Air Command to plan, task and control Allied aircraft flying enhanced Vigilance Activities. Both Combined Air Operations Centres in Uedem, Germany, and Torrejón, Spain, and the Deployable Command and Control Centre at Poggio Renatico, Italy, have sent personnel to augment the JFAC for the mission.

German 61 Surface-to-Air Missile Group to reinforce eFP Battlegroup Lithuania

The reinforcement of eFP Battlegroup Lithuania with comprehensive air-defence capabilities is a crucial step towards further enhancing the battlegroup’s operational capability and sustainability. This is a vital contribution by the German Armed Forces to strengthening NATO’s eastern flank and bolstering solidarity with Eastern European NATO partners. The light air defence system is operated by the 3rd Squadron of 61 Surface-to-Air Missile Group based in Todendorf, Germany at the Baltic Sea. The system is designed to provide protection against low-flying aircraft and helicopters to forces, areas, installations and mobile operations conducted by the armed forces. The effectiveness of the light air defence system is based on the firepower of the Stinger man-portable air defence (MANPAD) system. This enables the soldiers to engage targets up to a distance of 6000m and an altitude of 3000m. Following detection of the target, the crew commander selects the Ozelot weapon carrier most ideally positioned to engage the target. The reconnaissance, command and control and fire control vehicle can effectively coordinate the operation of up to eight weapon carriers. All vehicles are based on the Wiesel 2 weapon carrier. The Ozelot weapon carrier is armed with four Stinger guided missiles. The Stinger MANPAD system not only can be fired from the Ozelot weapon carrier, but can also be used by MANPAD teams as a shoulder-fired weapon. These teams can be deployed to cover blind areas, take over for the weapon carrier during ammunition replenishment or whenever the situation requires.

It is such an impressive display, shoulder-to-shoulder military grace and elegance, task forces standing next to battlegroups, aviator glasses and swanky fatigues, overseen by aging yet still usable multirole shiksas like ursula von der leyen and christine lagarde, allied air command, oh my what a melodious sound these titles and subtitles make as they smoothly glide across the polished geopolitical stage.

And then russians barge in like office linebacker and win the war ruining the script.

Disgusting, typically ill-mannered and ill-bred, yet another proof that despite their nordic looks, they are eastern savages unfit to consider themselves part of european diversity, unlike priti patel, rishi sunak, and other stalwarts protecting the european heritage from slavic boors.
