J.J. Cale – RIP
July 26, 2013
I quite enjoyed that, and the Deviants generally. Mick Farren had a lot of self-belief, eh? Hats off to JJ – first I heard.
Mick Farren & the Deviants kept making records. The last album by them I can find (apart from compilations and re-issues) was “Dr Crow” (2002). But here is Mick F performing with another line-up, in 2011. This illustrates his fondness for doing long spoken pieces over music, which was not a late development, there is one at the end of the first album. They are always about the end of the world.
On a more musical note, here is “Screwed Up” from 1977. A song about methamphetamine, apparently.
