South Front, Jun 15 2024

Hezbollah attacked on Jun 15 key targets of the IOF using guided missiles and suicide drones. The group announced in a statement that its fighters launched guided missiles at the air traffic control base on Mount Meron, destroying radars and other military equipment. The IOF acknowledged later that the base was struck by two projectiles. However, it said that there are no injuries and “no harm to the unit’s capabilities” in the attack. In another statement, Hezbollah said that its fighters attacked Khirbet Maar base, the headquarters of the artillery battalion of the Western Brigade, with “squadrons” of suicide drones. The group alleged that several deployment points within the base were destroyed and fire erupted as a result of the attack. The IOF later admitted that several suicide drones launched by Hezbollah impacted near the settlement of Goren, where Khirbet Maar base is located, sparking a fire.

It also said that it was investigating why it failed to down the drones. No casualties were reported, however. Hezbollah said in yet another statement that its fighters targeted a post manned by Israeli troops in the Hadab Yaron border site. The IOF didn’t report any casualties after the attack. In its statements, Hezbollah noted that the attacks were carried out in response to the recent Israeli assassination of its senior commander Taleb Sami Abdullah as well as in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip.

The IOF retaliated to the attacks by launching a series of strikes against targets in southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hezbollah. One of the strikes hit a motorcycle near the town of Aitaroun, killing a member of Hezbollah, the IOF said in a statement. Lebanese media reported casualties, but Hezbollah has not yet mourned any of its fighters or commanders.

Eight Israeli Troops Reportedly Killed, Wounded In Another Gaza Ambush
South Front, Jun 15 2024

The Izz’al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, announced on Jun 15 that it had ambushed a unit of the IOF in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. In a statement, the group said that its fighters first targeted an armored D9 bulldozer of the IDF in the Saudi neighborhood of the Tal Al-Sultan area to west of Rafah with a locally-made Al-Yassin 105 RPG, destroying it and leaving its crew dead and wounded. Later, when the IOF dispatched a rescue force to the neighborhood, the fighters targeted a Namer APC also with an Al-Yassin 105, according to the group, which alleged that the crew of the vehicle were all killed or wounded. The group noted that the ambush came on the Islamic Day of Arafah, which is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and is followed by the holiday of Eid al-Adha. Hebrew media confirmed that an IOF unit was ambushed near Rafah leading to the complete destruction of an APC. The attack reportedly resulted in eight Israeli casualties, with some news sources alleging that all of them were killed. The IOF has not yet commented on the ambush. Typically, the Israeli military acknowledges its human losses within 24 hours.

Separately, the al-Qauds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released video footage showing an Israeli soldier being hit by one of its snipers in the occupied Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, which splits the Strip in half. It is still unclear when exactly the sniping attack took place, or if the soldier seen being hit in the al-Qauds Brigades’ footage had been killed. At least 300 Israeli troops have been killed since the beginning of ground operations against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in Gaza and along its border. More than 1,908 others have been reportedly wounded during the same period.

Meanwhile on the Palestinian side, the death toll reached 37,296 with more than 85,197 others wounded, according to the latest statement by the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza. Women and children make up most of the casualties. the ministry said in the statement which was released on June 15:

Israeli attacks killed 30 people and injured 95 others in the last 24 hours. Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them.

The latest ambush in Rafah shows that the IOF has failed to achieve any of the objectives it launched the war on Gaza for, despite destroying much of the Strip. Still, Israel will not back down from the war, especially considering that it continues to receive unwavering support from the US and several other Western allies.
