South African Officials Advise Government To Stop Tracing And Quarantining Omicron Contacts Because Most Don’t Experience Any Symptoms

In news that you will likely not see anywhere today, government advisors in South Africa have suggested stopping tracing and quarantining those who have come into contact with Omicron because it isn’t helping to stop the spread of the variant, which for the most part causes no symptoms in those who contract it. News 24 reports that the Ministerial Advisory Committee wrote to Health Minister Joe Phaahla “recommending that the quarantining of contacts be stopped as it is no longer viable in the current social and economic climate.” The report also notes “the committee said contact tracing was no longer necessary and should also be halted with immediate effect.” The report notes the memo stated:
With only a small number of contacts identified from a proportionally small Covid-19 cases, quarantining was no longer effective for containing the spread of the disease.
The memo also noted that “the proportion of people with immunity to Covid-19 had risen substantially… exceeding 60-80%.” The memo also said that testing is ‘highly skewed’ because the majority of people who are getting Omicron do not even experience any symptoms. The memo also stated:
It stands to reason that if the vast majority of cases are not diagnosed, then the vast majority of case contacts are also not diagnosed. This means that quarantining and contact tracing are of negligible public health benefit in the South African setting.
The advisors warned of the negative effects of shutting down the country when the variant doesn’t warrant it. The memo states:
On an individual level, the consequences of prolonged quarantining include loss of income, loss of employment, and loss of schooling time. We propose that quarantining be discontinued with immediate effect for contacts of cases of Covid-19. This applies equally to vaccinated and non-vaccinated contacts. No testing for Covid-19 is required irrespective of the exposure risk, unless the contact becomes symptomatic. We further propose that contact tracing be stopped.
The advice echoes that of South African scientists and officials who for days now have been urging that mass panic over Omicron, which originated in the country, is unnecessary and dangerous.
German Health Minister Calls For Immediate Forced Vaccination Of Entire Population

German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has called for making COVID vaccination mandatory immediately for the entire German population. As reported by Der Spiegel:
Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) fears that the number of infections will rise sharply due to the new Omicron virus variant. “I assume a massive fifth wave,” said Lauterbach when visiting a vaccination center in Hanover. Lauterbach further declared “We have to assume that the wave of omicrons that we are facing, which in my opinion we cannot prevent, will be a massive challenge for our hospitals, for our intensive care units, but also for society as a whole.” The health minister further claimed that Omicron cannot be “got under control” with a double vaccination alone. “We mustn’t be lulled into a false sense of security,” he said, urging that a “massive booster campaign” is needed “boosting several million people a week.” Lauterbach added that he intends to try “by all means” to make the vaccines compulsory.
The comments come a week after Angela Merkel’s successor in Germany declared that there would be “no red lines” in the battle against the current wave of COVID, which he declared to be fueled by unvaccinated citizens. New Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that he supports vaccine mandates across Germany, noting that he intends to “vote for compulsory vaccination, because it is legally permissible and morally right.” Scholz previously said he wants to introduce mandatory coronavirus vaccination for all Germans as early as February, according to sources close to him.
Fauci Says Don’t Have Family Over At Christmas Unless They Are Vaxxed

Anthony Fauci did his best to play the grinch who stole Christmas once again Sunday by declaring that Americans should refrain from attending any gatherings where they don’t know everyone’s vaccination status. Presumably Fauci means that if someone in the family isn’t vaccinated then don’t let them in to the gathering, for if you merely know they are not vaccinated what’s the point? Fauci also said that it would be even better if people conducted tests at their family gatherings. Fauci told ABC ‘s This Week:
Don’t do things like go to gatherings with people you do not know what their vaccination status is. Some people are actually going the extra step and the extra mile of maybe even being tested when you have people coming over to the house. We now have much wider availability of point of care tests where you can get a result in about 15 minutes. So you might want to do that.
Fauci sounds like the CNN doctor who last week said Americans should take COVID tests on Christmas morning before opening presents, and then wear masks at their own gatherings just like his family does:
There was no mention from either of these doctors about asking if the family has natural immunity. Given the fact that the “fully vaccinated” are still contracting and passing on the virus en mass, perhaps that would be more prudent.
French Health Minister Admits Vaccine Passports Are a “Disguised” Vaccine Mandate

The French Minister of Health has admitted that vaccine passports are a “disguised” form of mandatory vaccines, despite President Macron claiming vaccine mandates “will not be compulsory.” In comments reported by French broadcaster La Chaîne Info, Olivier Véran revealed that the primary purpose of the country’s COVID pass scheme was to force the unvaccinated to cave in. Véran said:
The Pass Sanitaire is a disguised form of vaccination obligation, but it’s more effective. Preventing people from going to bars, restaurants, places that receive the public, if they are not vaccinated, is more effective than fining them €100 when caught in the street.
In other words, making life miserable for the unvaxxed is the best way of forcing them to get vaccinated. The remarks make a mockery of Emmanuel Macron’s insistence that France would never impose mandatory jabs. Macron said:
I have said it, I will repeat it: the vaccine will not be compulsory. Let us have confidence in our researchers and doctors. We are the land of the Enlightenment and of Pasteur, reason and science must guide us.
Meanwhile, the option of providing a negative test result as part of the Pass Sanitaire scheme will be eliminated in January, meaning only the vaccinated (who can still transmit the virus) will be allowed to enter numerous venues, including cinemas, cafes, bars and restaurants. Those who can prove on the spot they are not infected with the virus and therefore cannot spread it will be banned. French Prime Minister Jean Castex said:
While we have given time, a lot of time, to these French people who had hesitations and doubts, we will strengthen the incentive to vaccination in January. It is not acceptable for the refusal of a few million French people to get vaccinated to put the life of an entire country at risk.
Video Shows Mandate Protester Arrested After Refusing to Show Vaxx Pass to Buy Food

A video out of New York shows an anti-vaccine mandate protester being arrested by police after refusing to show a COVID pass to buy food. The incident took place at a branch of Panera Bread in Brooklyn. The man in the clip, who is reportedly an army veteran, expresses concern that as police are arresting him, they repeatedly allow the US flag to drop to the ground. The veteran declares:
The flag does not touch the ground! The Constitution of the United States is being violated! I cannot eat!
The man repeatedly tells cops he is non-violent and has no weapons as he is marched out of the store. Other customers who have already paid for food are also ordered to leave the store despite them claiming to not be protesters. According to the person who uploaded the clip to Twitter, the same man was also arrested twice last week for trying to order food without showing a vaccine passport. If you’d have explained this situation to most Americans in 2019, they’d have thought you were referring to some bizarre dystopian movie, and yet here we are. New York’s notoriously strict mask mandates and vaccine passport rules appear to be working out great. The state just reported its highest ever COVID-19 daily case rate on record despite having the highest vaccination rate among the most populous states in the US.
